As it is imperative to stimulate the momentum and to showcase the government readiness in the implementation of DTSA initiatives, MAMPU will continue to organise various programs identified in the strategy of Open Data to foster, preserve and acculturate innovation on open data.
One of the programs is a 2017 Open Data Day, a first premier program for the year 2017, assuring the program will bring significant impacts on utilisation of open data to the society, either at home or abroad, and it is a way forward to strengthen the government delivery system. This program will manifest innovation in open data by start-ups and new communities in creating the mobile applications using some Government Open Data published by the industries for the benefits to public or citizen. This program will definitely stimulate open data innovation to realise the government initiative in enhancing citizen-centric government delivery systems.
Open Data 2017 Program will be held on 25th May 2017 at Dewan Tunku Canselor (DTC), Universiti Malaya (UM). Its official opening by YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister. This program is organized collaboratively by MAMPU with the strategic partners: Transport Ministry, Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad, Syarikat WRZiT, etc.
The theme of Open Data 2017 program is #JOMKONGSIDATA. The program’s main aim is to raise various agencies and bodies in awareness and readiness to share open data. Also, MAMPU will able to benchmark government’s initiative against the global best practices and towards raising the nation’s global ranking.

2017 Open Data Day is a one-day program consists of two sessions, Open Data Big Splash is at the morning session while Open Data seminar is at the afternoon session.
